Building on business foundations in accounting, marketing, finance, economics, human resources, information systems, management and organizational behavior, the business administration degree curriculum is enriched through practical applications, a global perspective, faculty mentors and collaborative teams.

Students pursuing a B.S. in Business Administration may choose a concentration to provide depth within an area of special interest: Entrepreneurship, Global Management and Finance, Information Technology Management, Leadership and Social Responsibility, Marketing, or Sports Management.

All accounting classes are approved by the Florida State Board of Accountancy for credit toward the requirements to take the CPA exam.

Business students can explore business startup as their Major Field Practicum experience in Florida Tech's Student Business Incubator; a living, breathing center for new venture creation.

The incubator combines curriculum, facilities and expertise to fully immerse students in a semester-long Lean LaunchPad program. As a senior, you'll complete the practicum in business, a professional internship course in which you apply your business skills and savvy within a dynamic local company. As a result, you get practical experience, an expanded professional network and perhaps even a pre-graduation job offer.

  • Emphasis on Ethics and Leadership - The Nathan M. Bisk College of Business is dedicated to educating leaders to make thoughtful decisions, set high standards and promote corporate accountability. Undergraduate students tackle ethical challenges from both practical and professional perspectives in an annual competition, and can participate in a conference that encourages students to learn from business, community and government leaders.
  • Corporate Social ResponsibilityBachelor of Business Administration students learn about corporate social responsibility through hands-on class projects and individual service with the perspective of making an impact.

The Student Business Incubator Practicum Jump Starts Business Leadership

Bachelor of Business Administration students explore business startup as their Major Field Practicum experience in Florida Tech's Student Business Incubator — a living, breathing center for new venture creation.

The incubator combines curriculum, facilities and expertise to fully immerse students in a semester long Lean LaunchPad program. This business-launching "bootcamp" pushes students to speak to customers, vendors and strategic partners as they gather resources, develop business models and launch their businesses. You are paired with highly skilled executive entrepreneurs who help you develop prototypes, raise venture capital and become a successful entrepreneur.

Major Field Practicum

As a Bachelor of Business Administration student, you benefit from completing a Major Field Practicum in your senior year. The practicum bridges the gap between classroom studies and the real world, easing the transition from business student to industry professional. Each student is matched with a host organization of interest where he or she learns how the organization functions and gains practical insight into problem-solving and decision-making processes. You also gain experience in corporate social responsibility by becoming actively engaged in a community organization.

What can you do with a business administration degree?

A graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology with a degree in Business Administration is ideally suited for a variety of business administration careers. The business administration graduate possesses a solid background in the science of management, gains relevant skills in the various business disciplines and builds a portfolio of practical, hands-on experience.

With this educational foundation, our graduates are prepared to immediately commence business administration careers or, if so desired, pursue a graduate career in business, law, or related disciplines.

Career Outlook

Graduates of Florida Tech's business administration program are prepared for a career in information systems, economics, finance and marketing. In fact, business administration careers are so varied that they exist with private businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governmental and regulatory agencies and sports organizations.

Whether serving as manager for a 501(c)(3) corporation, business analyst for an environmental services company or, with the acquisition of a law degree, in-house corporate counsel for example, business administration careers cover a broad spectrum of employment opportunities. Employment of administrative services managers is expected to grow 15 percent from 2010 to 2020.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), provides detailed information about hundreds of occupations, including, entry-level education, overall working environment and employment prospects. According to the Bureau, employment in business administration is expected to grow about as fast as the average of other occupations in the marketplace.
