Florida Tech is One of The Best Premed Colleges for Biomedical Studies

If you’re wanting to become a doctor, you’ll want to focus your pre-med degree in biomedical studies.

Ranked in the top 7% of America's colleges and universities, Florida Tech is one of the best premed colleges for biomedical studies. Students attending Florida Tech experience the intimacy of what a small private college can offer such as smaller classes and a hands-on education taught by professors who are active research scientists.

Strong Learning Relationship Between Faculty and Students

Because Florida Tech is a small research university specializing in science and technology, active research scientists teach our students. Faculty members receive national recognition, fund research in their laboratories and conduct cutting-edge research in ecology, population biology, conservation science and climate change. In addition, Ph.D. professors, not graduate students, teach all of your lecture classes. A Health Professions Advisory Committee and a Chief Health Professions Advisor ensures students are updated on admission requirements, admission tests and professional school application procedures guide students in the program.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Another reason Florida Tech is one of the best premed colleges for biomedical studies is because the program extends beyond classroom teaching with internships, summer research programs at other universities and colleges and professional activities by the student chapter of the American Medical Student Association. Students are strongly encouraged by professors to get involved in meaningful research, with many winning awards at national conferences or publishing papers with their faculty advisors. It's clear to see why Florida Tech is one of the best premed colleges in the country.

Cutting-Edge Research Facilities Right on Campus

Unlike many other colleges with biomedical studies, our students benefit from cutting-edge research facilities right on campus. The F.W. Engineering Complex is equipped with 21st century technology and contains eight teaching labs, 12 modern research labs and a 16-workstation computer facility. Also available are many high-tech tools that allow students to gain hands-on research experience, including high-end photomicroscopes, a scanning electron microscope and all manner of laboratory equipment, from centrifuges to growth chambers. The building also includes animal care facilities for housing small mammals and reptiles, and a temperature-controlled 800 sq. ft. greenhouse. The department has excellent teaching facilities with a state-of-the-art multimedia auditorium and classroom.

Great Florida Location - Access to Natural Laboratories On and Off Campus

Our location also makes us one of the best premed colleges for biomedical studies with natural laboratories accessible year-round for field research. Close by are the nation's most bio-diverse estuary, an experimental forest with over 700 tagged trees and access to natural resources such as the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Lagoon, lakes and wetlands.

Located on the Space Coast, we are home to more than 5,000 technology companies and the nation's fifth largest high-tech workforce. In addition, Florida Tech is just minutes from 72 miles of beaches, entertainment, professional baseball and close to Kennedy Space Center and Orlando area attractions.

When comparing colleges with biomedical studies, Florida Tech stands above the rest.
