Bachelor's in Aviation Management with Flight Program

Earn Private and Commercial Pilot Certificates

An aviation management with flight program degree provides a comprehensive background in aviation studies, management and business, preparing students for careers in areas such as that of a professional pilot or airport consultant, and working in airline management, aircraft manufacturing and more. The aviation management with flight program degree develops a strong background in aviation with experience in modern aeronautical technology and flight operations.

While this program focuses on the business side of aeronautics, students can choose a variety of options to enhance their degree including airline pilot, air traffic control, FAA Dispatch, and/or Certified Flight Instructor (CFI).

Air Traffic Control Option

While seeking the aviation management with flight program degree, students can also choose an option of graduating with a specialization in Air Traffic Control. The ATC specialization meets the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program and is FAA-approved. Graduates of the program may be eligible to bypass the Air Traffic Basics Course at the FAA Academy.

FAA Dispatch

Flight-option majors have the opportunity to obtain an FAA Dispatcher Certificate and work as an airline or corporate dispatcher.

Flight Instructor

Flight instructor ground and flight courses can be taken as electives with any aviation management with flight program degree. FIT Aviation hires students and recent graduates who have their CFI certificates as flight instructors, giving them the opportunity to gain professional experience and build flight-time hours, an important piece of becoming a pilot.

Real-Life Experience Right from the Start

With the aviation management with flight program degree, students begin major-related courses in their first semester at Florida Tech, including the basics of aviation, science, math and weather.

Florida Tech students enjoy the benefit of flying on the Space Coast with its 300+ days of ideal flying weather. A diverse fleet of high-tech aircraft and world-class facilities at nearby Melbourne International Airport also factor in making Florida Tech a top-notch flight university. Through our new airline pilot training program, students have the opportunity to build their high-speed, high-altitude experience and earn flight time in our Boeing 737NG simulator, plus obtain a type rating in an Airbus A320. One of just a few universities to offer this training, you will learn from the best in the industry at Florida Tech.

Build Professional Relationships

Our classrooms and flight line are staffed with faculty who have years of experience within the industry, including experienced pilots and experts in areas such as airport consulting, design, management and aviation human factors. Beyond the classroom, aviation management with flight program degree majors build leadership and professional experience through internships and participation in academic organizations like Collegiate Aviation Business Executives, a student chapter of American Association of Airport Executives, the Falcons Intercollegiate Flight Team, Women in Aviation, Student Government and over 100 other campus-wide student organizations.

As a senior working towards the aviation management with flight program degree, you complete advanced course work in airport management, aviation security, advanced aircraft systems and aviation law. You also get the opportunity to meet recruiters from major airlines, airports and industry-related companies at university career fairs. As a result, you get an expanded professional network and perhaps even a job offer before graduation.
