FIT Huntsville professors not only cover the material, they also reference specific examples in their careers to help reinforce what they are teaching out of the textbook. I have been able to use what I learned at Florida Tech so far in my current position.

Project Management Careers

Strong Job Growth With Diverse Industry Opportunities

The outlook for project management careers continues to improve, according to a study published by the Anderson Economic Group, which reported the need for an average of 1.2 million project management positions each year through 2016. The study found that some project management fields are expanding, including healthcare, infrastructure development and green technologies. Shifting demographics and growth in global projects worldwide are two of the main factors contributing to the increased need for project managers.

Career Outlook

Because project management careers can be in a variety of industries, graduates must determine the industries in which they are most interested to determine their career opportunities. In a 2012 article in PM Network (a publication of the Project Management Institute), the sectors to watch for jobs include aerospace and defense, construction, energy, financial services, government, healthcare, and information technology.

The Project Management Institute ® (PMI ®) expects the future of project management careers to be robust reporting, "Between 2006 and 2016, the number of project-oriented employees will grow by an estimated 8.2 million." Graduates with a master's degree from Florida Tech in project management are poised to benefit from this employment growth.

The United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), also predicts growth in general management, operations and project management. The Occupational Outlook Handbook provides detailed information on a career in logistics management as well as hundreds of other occupations, including entry-level education, overall working environment and employment prospects.
