Public Administration Jobs

Secure Internships, Assistantships and Publishing Opportunities

Working with an esteemed faculty who are also experienced industry leaders with years of experience, Florida Tech's master's degree program in public administration combines theory and applied course work relevant to today's public administration jobs.

Students develop proficiency in applied research and engage in study similar to the scenarios they will face as a leader in a public administration role. Learning to design, implement, manage and evaluate programs and policies equips students for challenging public administration jobs.

Public Administration training at Florida Tech includes rigorous coursework that involves researching solutions, solving complex problems and applying critical thinking in areas such as:

  • Organizational theory
  • Public finance
  • Public administration and management
  • Statistics
  • Economics
  • Ethical issues and dilemmas in public administration
  • Public policy and evaluation

Capstone Project

The program culminates in the development of a capstone project, where students gain hands-on experience. This team project can be a case study, a program evaluation, a policy study analysis, a process improvement study or any combination of the above. The capstone experience gives students an opportunity to work on a complex, real-life public administration project in a team-based environment to demonstrate mastery of public administration competencies to prepare them for public administration jobs.

Internship & Publishing Opportunities

Internships are a valuable way to gain experience for securing future public administration jobs. Florida Tech helps students secure internships and assistantships that provide hands-on experience and training in the workplace. Students have previously held internships with the U.S. Department of Transportation and through programs such as Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars. Students are also encouraged to prepare and submit to magazines, publications and journals such as the Public Administration Review and Journal of Public Administration and Policy Research on topics in public administration.
